FORCE Technology's ESEM microscope

FORCE Technology’s materials specialists in steel and other metals, plastics and composites, and cement and concrete help to ensure that relevant and competent conclusions are drawn with respect to the many different types of analysis tasks we carry out every day.

Typical tasks are:

  • Damage elucidation. As an example, fractures on metals and plastics should be mentioned, where, using the scanning electron microscope (SEM), we are able to determine the type of fracture and find the cause of such fracture together with the materials specialists. • With FORCE Technology’s latest and highly advanced FIB-SEM (focused ion beam scanning electron microscope) it is possible to add, remove and analyse materials at micro and nano level, and at the same time view these under high magnification SEM. This technique can be used, among others, to make deformationless cuts in surfaces and thus determine the thickness of layers and the composition of elements of thin coatings on surfaces or 3D structural analyses of small particles.
  • Determination and documentation of types of alloys. Were the correct materials delivered? Does the alloy correspond to the specification of requirements? With OES (Optical emission spectrometry) we are able to deliver accredited analyses of alloy compositions within 24 hours.
  • Surface analyses. Is the surface polluted? What is the condition of the surface structure/roughness?
  • Determination of the composition of elements. With our XRF (X-ray analysis) we are able to identify the composition of elements, in quantitative and qualitative tests, in powders, solid matters, liquids and materials with unusual geometries. With this method, it is possible to determine the contents of heavy metals in plastics for instance, within a very short time.
